Islanders Sweep 2026 Beach Volleyball Superlatives, Four Pairs Named to All-Conference First Team

FRISCO, Texas – The undefeated regular season champions of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team came away with every superlative and loaded the All-Conference First Team as the Southland Conference released the 2026 postseason awards Tuesday.

Gayle Stammer was named the SLC Coach of the Year after guiding the program to its third regular season championship with an undefeated record in the conference slate and its fifth consecutive 20-win season. Including this year's regular season title, Stammer has won six total championships as the head of the program with the conference only having awarded nine winnable trophies in its history for beach volleyball ahead of the tournament.

Also headlining the All-Conference awards was the duo of Madison Morrow and Kristin Bobay as the SLC Pair of the Year. They dominated at the top spot, registering 20 wins on the year including going 5-1 in conference play all from Flight 1. All of their conference wins came in straight sets while six of their nine total losses this season came against ranked opponents. They earned SLC Pair of the Week honors after opening weekend of the season after wins over (rv) Oregon, (rv) South Florida, and #20 Tulane. Individually, Morrow broke the program record for most wins at Flight 1 with 59 in her career while Bobay became the winningest player in program history with 81 career wins.

They were named to the First Team alongside Maria Duda Fernandes de Melo/Millie Olsson (No. 2), Bryce Ranney/Mille Maxwell-Berthou (No. 3), and Mia Stevens/Saskia Hernandez (No. 5).

Additionally, Stevens was tabbed the SLC Freshman of the Year while Hernandez earned the title of SLC Newcomer of the Year. Stevens posted the most individual dual wins on the team this season as a freshman with a 23-6 overall record. Hernandez made an immediate impact in the lineup in her first season with the Islanders, going 19-5 overall. As a pair, they went undefeated in league play with the perfect 6-0 mark with five wins coming in straight-set sweeps and earned SLC Pair of the Week honors after going on a 13-dual winning streak. They won 15 of their last 16 duals to end the season.

Fernandes de Melo/Olsson went untouched in conference play, winning every dual in straight sets from the No. 2 position. They led the team as a pair in wins on the season with 21 all from Flight 2 and were two-time SLC Pair of the Week winners.

Ranney/Maxwell-Berthou didn't drop a dual in conference play with a 6-0 overall record including 5-0 at the No. 3 spot to aid the Islanders winning their third regular season championship in four years.

The Islanders will now look to extend their season beyond this week when they host the SLC Championships at Water's Edge Park Wednesday through Friday with a berth to the NCAA Tournament on the line. They will be the No. 1 seed seeking their fourth tournament title in program history.
