Justin Reynolds Selected in D-League Draft

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Former Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball player Justin Reynolds was picked in the fourth round of the NBA's Developmental League Draft on Saturday.  Reynolds went 53rd overall to the Texas Legends.

Reynolds played for the Islanders from 2007-11.  The 6-foot-9 forward is in the A&M-Corpus Christi Top 10 all-time in scoring, rebounds, blocks and steals. 

A native of Pearland, Texas, Reynolds has been playing professionally since leaving the Islanders program.  He has played in Macedonia, France and most recently for the Tsukuba Robots of the Japanese National Basketball League.

Last season Reynolds averaged 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game over 52 contests with Tsukuba.  He shot 47 percent from the floor, while adding 1.3 assists and 1.2 steals per outing.

Reynolds will be part of the Legends' training camp, which begins Nov. 2.  The camp will see 17 players competing for a spot on the team. The squad opens up play on Nov. 13 in Austin.


The Islanders start the 2015-16 season with a home exhibition game against St. Mary's (Texas) on Nov. 7 at the Dugan Wellness Center and then begin regular season action Nov. 13 at the American Bank Center against Our Lady of the Lake.

The official start to the 2015-16 campaign is the Islander Athletic Fund's Tip-Off Luncheon, scheduled for Nov. 3 at the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina. The event is part of the Islanders Monthly Luncheon series, presented by the Port of Corpus Christi.
