Marc Johnson was hired as Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi’s Athletic Compliance Coordinator in December 2010. He oversees the day-to-day operations of the compliance program, which includes monitoring, enforcement and education for Islanders athletes, coaches and staff.
He joined the Islanders Athletics family after becoming the first assistant director of compliance and eligibility at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in January 2010, where he focused on financial aid, official and unofficial visits and the Special Assistance Fund.
Johnson joined the Mocs staff from Kent State University where he served as an intern for compliance and eligibility at Kent State during the 2007-08 academic year. He then served as a graduate assistant from 2008 until joining the Mocs in 2010.
Johnson was also a student-athlete prior to entering compliance. Marc ran sprints and was a four-time MAC champion, four-time NCAA Regional qualifier advancing twice to nationals from 2004-2007 for the Golden Flashes.
Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management in December of 2007 from Kent State majoring in Exercise Leisure and Sport. In May 2010, he completed his master’s degree in the same concentration, also from Kent.
