Brett Winegarner came to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in August 2013 as the Media Relations Intern. His responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for cross country, women’s basketball, baseball and track and field for the Islanders.

Prior to coming to the Island University, Winegarner worked in the Texas Tech Athletics Communications Office for one year while attaining his degree in broadcast journalism with a minor in Spanish. He worked closely with all sports at Texas Tech, as he was the Video Intern. His duties included filming games, producing video packages and other content for

During his time in college, he also worked at the school newspaper, The Daily Toreador where he held three different editor positions over a three-year period. He was also the beat writer for baseball a season, as well as a columnist for Texas Tech football. For his writing Winegarner won three TIPA awards including Best Sports Column.

Winegarner has also done radio work as the color commentator for Texas Tech soccer, play-by-play for high school football and Little League for his hometown of Spearman, Texas.

Winegarner currently resides in Corpus Christi with his wife Chasity and his dog Honda.
