Amber Gips began working at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi in August 2011. She was elevated to Assistant Director of Media Relations in June 2013. Her responsibilities include serving as the primary media relations contact for volleyball, tennis and softball at the Island University.
Previously, Gips worked in the Athletics Media Relations office at the University of Arizona for two years while receiving her undergraduate degree in journalism with a minor in communication. She served as the primary media relations contact for men’s tennis while assisting with women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, track and field, and gymnastics. She also assisted with media and game day duties with men’s basketball, football, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer and softball. While at Arizona she served on the Media Services Team during the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships.
During her years at Arizona, Gips was a sports intern at KVOA-News 4 where she assisted with interviews at MLB spring training and assisted with television scripts and stories. She also served as a sports reporter for the campus television station, UATV, and assisted with game recaps for the Tucson Padres, the Triple-A affiliate for the San Diego Padres baseball team.
While home in Ohio during the 2009 and 2010 summers she was a sports correspondent for the Fremont News-Messenger where she covered summer baseball, softball and the Lake Erie junior golf association.
She is a member of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Gips is from Helena, Ohio and resides in Corpus Christi with her husband Brett.
